Our Mission

  • Building a foundation of understanding and cultivating a love of religion within students.
  • To impart to our students an expansive and practical comprehension in the fundamental teachings of Islam.
  • Students will develop a sound foundation in all major aspects of their faith from which they will benefit their entire lives.
  • Facilitate a place where our Muslim children can build everlasting friendships based on faith
  • To help nurture Muslims of the future who will participate in the world surrounding them as ambassadors of Islam and responsible Americans.

General Program Information

  • IAA’s Maktab is a new comprehensive Islamic education after-school program for public and homeschool students (boys and girls) for ages 5 till 8 (KG-2nd grade) held within the school week.
  • The model of a Maktab program has a holistic educational approach where students not only memorize the Quran up to their ability with great retention but will also develop their character, a confident Islamic identity, the ability to understand the Quran, dawah skills, and much more. The importance of a sound Islamic education for all Muslims is evident in today’s society. As Muslim youth are growing up in western societies and attending public schools the development of an Islamic identity is imperative. There is a need to nurture the inherent good that is within the individual so that the emerging generations become the future leaders of the Muslim Ummah (society). In order to do so institutions need to provide comprehensive programs that are built on a tarbiyyah (education and upbringing) structure – A Maktab program.
  • With a weekday program the students are already in an education mode. At a Maktab program students will spend 1.5 hours in their day focusing primarily on their deen (faith) and building their relationship with the Quran.

After School Maktab Subjects:

  • 1) Quran: Emphasis on perfecting makharij (pronunciation) and the science of Tajweed
  • 2) Islamic Studies: Seerah, History, Adaab (manners), Akhlaaq (etiquettes), Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and Hadith (Prophetic Traditions).
  • 3) Quranic Arabic: Introductory understanding to the language of Arabic
  • Throughout the week students will focus on the three areas: memorization of Quran, Islamic Studies and Arabic. They will study the Hadith and Seerah of the Prophet (ﷺ) and learn how he (ﷺ) lived and conducted his life and how that applies to them.
  • They will study adaab and akhlaq to build their character.
  • Fiqh will be taught so that they will have an understanding of the rulings of their faith.
  • Through the Arabic portion of the program they will learn 80% of the Quranic words building their understanding of the meaning of the Quran.

*Note* - Quranic learning will NOT be at an accelerated pace. Students will be engaged at a steady pace to ensure proper pronunciation and application. If a quicker learning pace is desired, that will be found in the ASQN (After-school Quran Naadhira) program.
